Curiosity is a wonderful quality. It comes with an open mind, a willingness to learn, to question, to embrace new ideas and to express your own views.
What I also see is someone who is finally standing their ground after shrinking themselves for far too long.
No one should ever put another person in a box. That’s not how we grow and it’s certainly not how we learn from one another.
Your closing lines captured that beautifully. They had already chosen their version of you and had no interest in seeing yours.
We all yearn to be understood, yet so often we are misunderstood. We long for validation to live as our authentic selves, but that validation doesn’t always come and perhaps it never will. The important part is learning to validate ourselves.
